2003 La Croix de Beaucaillou

Was excited to see a 2003 La Croix de Beaucaillou in The Wine Market for around $30 the other night. Picked it up and poured into the decanter around 3pm to see how things went.

It is a little young and didn’t really come together until after a two or three hour decanting. Initially it was harsh but worked out to show that wet Earth smell that Ducru’s first wine comes with. Aromas of cherry and leather came though, and the nice medium color tasted meaty with lots of fruit.

Could stand to sit around for a few years. If you drink now, give it some air for a few hours first. Highly recommended at the price point for a Bordeaux.
