Wine Shipping Bill Introduced this Week
A bill has been introduced into the Maryland Assembly that reportedly open the airwaves for Maryland residents to receive wine shipments not only from wineries but also from retailers.
HB-1260 is in the House right now and crossfiled with SB-616. A pdf of the bill can be found here.
I’m no legislative analyst, but I don’t see any gotchas in the bill (Texas hads a few of these in their Law). The details require a shipper to be licensed with the state, something that is included in the state laws of other states that allow incoming shipping.
If this is something you’re passionate about, and if you’re reading this blog that is a likely conclusion, take a minute to contact your Maryland elected official.

More on the shipping bill. A hearing will be held on February 18, 2008 at 1:00 PM to discuss the MD Wine Bill. It’s important for people to write their legislatures to get support for this thing!
