2006 St. Michaels Winery – Riesling

Picked this one up from Beltway Fine Wine for about twelve bucks to go with a stuffed chicken breast dish I was cooking up that evening. The chicken was to be stuffed with a spicy sausage concoction, and I thought the Riesling would go well with the spices in the sausage.

I ended up murdering the dish preparation and it devolved into being spicy sausage stuffing served over chicken breast rather than stuffed inside. No matter though, it still tasted fine and the Riesling stood up well. Great citrus fruit in the wine, both on the nose and on the palate. The Riesling is barely off-dry, and definitely on the dryer side of the Riesling spectrum. A very enjoyable wine.
