Homemade Pasta
Three cups of flour, three eggs, and two hours of manual labor is all it took for me to make my own pasta for dinner last night. In preparation, I’d forgotten to buy a pasta rack, one of those tree-looking things that has a ton of arms from which to hang your pasta. I enlisted the help of the dish rack, pots, pans, and anything else I could get my hands on. Reviews on the food went from “good” (from My Wife) to “okay” (from me) but after some baby tomatoes, cracked pepper and olive oil, things were looking up. We drank a 1997 Camigliano – Brunello di Montalcino that we bought in Montalcino during our honeymoon. After two hours in the decanter the wine was absolutely awesome.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

I am making my own pasta tomorrow to pair with a nice Brunello! My girlfriend Kim and I were in Montalcino this past November – outstanding choice for honeymoon location!

Yeah Italy was all it was cracked up to be. Good luck with the pasta. It sure is an experience.

Update: I went with the store-bought stuff! I did housework all day and didn’t have time to make the pasta.
But, we covered the store-bought with a butter/white truffle mixture…so it turned out OK and the 2001 Santa Lucia Riserva we paired with it was young, but great with a few hour decant.
