Amazon Is Your New Wine Overlord
Amazon.com, Internet purveyors of…. well, everything, are looking to expand that universe by beginning to sell wine.
Amazon is looking to recruit a senior wine buyer, whom it says will be responsible for “the acquisition of a massive new product selection” for its site. The wine sales will augment a rapidly expanding non-perishable groceries business that Amazon launched two years ago.
Well, I’m stoked. Amazon has the deep, deep pockets necessary to figure out how to jump through all the stupid interstate law hoops that the suits have in place. They also have the deep , deep pockets to help out the SWRA and freethegrapes.org.
If I were Wine.com, I’d be scared.
