New winery opening up in May out in Fauquier County called Barrel Oak Winery. The name is a bit strange, given that “Barrel” and “Oak” are both are used in winemaking sometimes, but not all the time. “Oak” has even become a dirty word in some circles.

No steel fermented Chardonnays, perhaps?

No matter, proprietors Sharon and Brian Roeder are living their dreams and kicking off their new winery on May 23, 2008. I wish them the best of luck. Drop on by and give the wines a shot.

One Response to “Barrel Oak Winery”

  1. oh my…no steel fermented chardonnay? heaven forbid! sharon, our winemaker and my beautiful and brilliant wife, prefers steel. she’s that kind’a girl.

barrel oak winery is an idea and an acronym. it’s all about the BOW. -as in BOW WOW! as in our love for dogs and the central role of our loopy golden retreivers in all of this. as we work ourselves happily half to death getting ready for our may 23rd grand opening, their love, and joy and quiet strength carries us through.

hope we see each of you here soon.
