In Memoriam: Tom Shelton
Tom Shelton, president of Joseph Phelps Vineyards from 1995 to 2007, passed away Saturday night. I only had the chance to meet Tom once, but I remember him being very friendly and accommodating towards me. Given that the event we were attending was hosted by him and was filled with lots of important wine people, it speaks to his character that he took a moment to talk with and meet everyone there. From the remembrances posted around the Internet this week, it’s evident that my experience was not unique. Tom was, by all accounts, a pretty stand-up guy. He will be missed.
