$1.79 Million Gets You A Virginia Winery
Savoy-Lee Winery near Smith Mountain Lake is up for sale, asking price is $1.79 million. Looks like a turnkey opportunity for someone who wanted to own a winery. Tasting room, offices, and wine making supplies: it’s all there. From the post on OWC.
…located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on 117 acres, with a fully stocked 7 acre lake and a 3500sqft house.
It’s all salivating in a romantic, quit-my-job-and-start-a-winery sort of way, which is the angle they’re shooting for I suppose.
Realtor listing, with a ton of pictures, is here.
I’ve never even heard of the winery, anyone tried the juice?

Savoy-Lee is one of those great small farm wineries. I have know David Wood and his family almost from the beginning when they planted those first vines in the beautiful Smith Mountain Lake region of the Commonwealth.
Beyond the amazing property, David has developed some great wines. His White Merlot (yes – a White Merlot!) sells out quickly and t he same with his Viognier. The Savoy-Lee 2006 Cab Franc is delicious, affordable and a great partner to a winter Sunday dinner (my next project after this blog entry as the snow drifts down from the heavens).
It is sad to see David sell the Winery but I understand his personal reasons behind the decision. Whomever purchases Savoy-Lee is securing a cherished family heirloom that has received years of love and devotion. There is a wonderful growing and dedicated fan base for Savoy-Lee that will come with the purchase.

Ron, Thanks for the info. I might try to find some of his Viognier as I’m a sucker for it.
