Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon: The Sordid Tale Continues
Back in September, I blogged about the Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon and how one wine drew such confliting reviews out of the wine world. On one side was Robert Parker and his “best under $15″ designation. On the other you had be me and bunch of people on the Internet wondering what we did to deserve this plonk in our glass.
Well, as some commenters pointed out, there are in fact two Avalon Cabernet Sauvignons. There is the Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon, and there is the Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley.
I got the chance to drink the Napa Valley this weekend. The 2007 is on sale at Calvert Wine & Spirits for $11.99 a bottle. At that price, you’re practically stealing this wine. It is fantastic for that price, makes a good drinker and a good bottle (or three) to pop when friends to drop by.
To review, Napa Valley with white label: awesome. The non-Napa Valley, with orange label: complete plonk. Avoid it at all costs.
