After a prolonged absence, my Maryland and Virginia Winery Map is back up and running. It’s a little clunky at the moment because I didn’t keep pace with Ruby on Rails’ blistering build-test-release-breakeverything cycle. Soon I’ll have it up running with Passenger and Capistrano and blah blah geek nerd geek snooze….

If you’re interested in a given state, you can go right to Virginia wineries or Maryland wineries. You can search, and have your results in map or list form. I’m behind on my wineries so I’ll have to get the whip out and make the interns work.

I plan on ramping up features soon, so if you have suggestions or a wishlist, drop me a comment.

You may have already noticed a link at the top of this page for my winery map, and now it is time to make a formal grand opening:

Map.vinotrip.com!

It’s a winery map using Google Maps written in Ruby on Rails. Just bare bones functionality right now: search by region, search by day that the winery is open, view/edit tasting room hours, and comment on wineries. That’s pretty much it. There are a million things I’d like to put in (like route planner, search by name, text listing, Pennsylvania wineries) but then I would never see sunlight and my wife would become concerned.

State specific links work as such:

http://map.vinotrip.com/virginia
http://map.vinotrip.com/maryland

Enjoy! Leave comments about features you would like to see or leave feedback from within map.vinotrip.
