In 1997, the Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma bought the estate. he invested significantly and needles to say it did not take long for him to restore Tertre's character and nobility.
The vineyard is located on the highest peakof the Margaux appellation and on one of the highest butts (hillock)situated in the Medoc gravel area. The Château uses the gravity-flow method for filling its wooden fermenting tubs. In 2008 they also fitted in low volume concret truncated vats which enable the separate vinification of their best plots. The wine is then matured for18 months in French oak barrels, half of which are renewed every year.
The grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and concentration. The round and supple Merlot offers its silkiness during the final blending. The Cabernet Franc distinguise itself with its rich bouquet of spicy notes. Finally, the late maturing Petit Verdot completes the aromatic palette.
