Champagne Tourist Route Itinerary

The Champagne Tourist Route offers the opportunity to explore the rich heritage of the Champagne vineyards along a 220 kilometre trail. Several itineraries allow visitors to discover the region’s winegrowing landscapes at their own pace. Fully signposted, the route winds through the vineyards where visitors can meet local winemakers, tour their cellars and taste their sparkling wines, crafted from three emblematic grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.

La Vallée de la Marne

Stretching over 90 kilometres, the Vallée de la Marne runs from Château-Thierry on the river’s left bank to Épernay on the right bank. Set off to explore Champagne houses and independent winegrowers who will share their expertise and winemaking techniques with you. This itinerary takes you through charming winegrowing villages and vineyards, a heritage of exceptional historical value.

La Vallée de la Marne Ouest

The western section of the Vallée de la Marne extends from Épernay in the east to Château-Thierry in the west. Following the course of the Marne River, this route passes through the towns of Saâcy, Nanteuil and Citry, before reaching Trélou, offering superb panoramic views along the way. Here, around twenty certified cellars welcome visitors, offering the chance to meet local winemakers, learn about their Champagne making methods and enjoy tastings of their effervescent wines.

The “Côte des blancs” and the southern hillsides of Épernay

This itinerary links Épernay to Vertus and passes through some of the most renowned villages of the Champagne region. Begin your journey in Épernay along the famous Avenue de Champagne, home to prestigious Champagne houses known around the world. As you continue your escape, the tourist route leads you through many historic villages. Along the way, meet local winemakers who welcome visitors into their estates for tastings and introductions to the world of Champagne.

The massif de Saint-Thierry and the Vallée de l’Ardre

Located at the gates of Reims, this circuit brings together the vineyards of the Tardenois and the Massif de Saint-Thierry, crossed by the Ardre and Vesle rivers. This route offers a journey rich in history. In Reims, discover the legendary Champagne Houses, some of which open their cellars to reveal a few of their secrets during guided tours. Further along the road, cooperatives and independent winegrowers welcome visitors for estate tours, meetings with winemakers, and Champagne tastings.
