Travellers' review - La Tour Guest House

  • Beaujolais Getaway

This was an unfamiliar region for us. We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a wonderful tasting at Steve Charvet’s, accompanied by a platter of cold cuts and cheese. Afterward, the guesthouse at La Tour was excellent, with charming and pleasant hosts. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with them and a hearty breakfast. Thank you also for the little gift from Sylvie.

  • Good organization

Everything went perfectly, the service providers are used to vinotrip customers and we were very well received. Visits to château champion, camarsac and le Taillan were very interesting, with professionals who knew how to share their knowledge. Excellent restaurants at marquis de terme and château pey la tour, and a very good overnight stay at château sequin. In short, a great gift to give yourself.

  • OPINION

Extraordinary weekend, total discovery of the Beaujolais region, very pleasant welcome by the winemakers, excellent overnight stay at the Tour.

  • Perfect

Perfect stay, we were very well received both at the Tower and in the various estates as well as at the restaurant...Beaujolais is a magnificent region...thank you for everything!

  • Excellent weekend

Stay offered by our children. We enjoyed the two tastings, at Steeve Charvet's, and at Domaine du Château de la Valette, with passionate and friendly operators. Delicatessen and cheeses were provided to accompany the wines. A very friendly welcome at the La Tour B&B, with its spacious room, tasty and copious meals and breakfast. An excellent stay.

  • Discovering Beaujolais

A charming stay with 3 great addresses: Steeve CHARVET, a passionate winegrower, who shows us all the diversity of his vineyards, and La TOUR, a beautiful guest house with lots of charm, a warm welcome and an excellent meal. Last but not least, a well-designed fun trail in the Chateau de PIZAY oenotheque. In short, a real success!

  • Discovering Beaujolais

This boxed set, donated by our children, enabled us to discover the Beaujolais region. Two superb tastings, at Steeve Charvet and Domaine Château de la Valette, where we received a very warm welcome, as well as accommodation at "La Tour" in Chiroubles, which was perfect in every way: welcome, food and conviviality. So much so that we spent the week there to discover a little more of the Beaujolais region. José and Patricia

  • Wonderful discovery of the Beaujolais region...

We had a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect, from the Vinotrip organization, to the service providers, to the restaurants: it was faultless! Vinotrip lets you discover a small part of the region, combining good food and good wine tasting (while learning more about wine-making methods). First of all, Steeve passed on his passion for wine through tastings and explanations of the production process (the time was ideal to see the different stages after the harvest, as the grape harvest had just taken place), then we stayed at La Tour, accompanied by a more than copious and succulent meal... The next day, we discovered the wines of Château de la Valette and enjoyed a meal with an incredible view of the heights at Domaine de la Madonne (a restaurant that sold out weeks in advance!). IN BRIEF, it was a real success, I'll be recommending this stay and I'll be sure to try others :-)

  • Beaujolais Stay

A great stay from 26 to 27/08/2024. Great discovery of the Steeve Charlet estate and the Château de Bachelard. As for the Chambre d'hôtes La Tour, it was perfect with a beautiful room and a good meal with Fédéric and Sylvie (the owners). And to finish, a perfect lunch at the Odenas restaurant "le cote de Brouilly". Thank you for a superb stay.

    Michel C.

  • Super

Instructive visit with enthusiasts from the Madone estate in Fleurie and the Steeve Charvet estate in Chiroubles. Very warm welcome at "La Tour" bed and breakfast in Chiroubles. Superb restaurant "Le côte de Brouilly" in Odenas. Nothing to say. Everything was perfect, even the weather!

  • A wonderful discovery of Beaujolais

Great stay in Beaujolais, ideal for discovering the region and immersing yourself in its history. Visit to the Domaine de la Galette with passionate winemakers, a shame we only had a tasting without a tour. Lunch at the côte de Brouilly restaurant is perhaps the best part of the trip, as there are perhaps more typical dishes from the region (dishes you'd find in a bouchon lyonnais). The night at La Tour in Chirouble was great, the hosts are so kind and welcoming, we'd recommend them for a visit to the area! Finally, the next day we had a tasting and a visit to Steeve's domaine, a great experience to see how his wines are made, with a tasting accompanied by charcuterie, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Vinotrip's organization of the trip was very well done, we got a roadmap with addresses and meeting times, and we still had free time to discover the region outside the pack's activities. We'd do it again somewhere else!

  • EXCELLENT STAY

Many thanks to Steeve Charvet for his welcome, explanations and generous tasting. The meal, night and breakfast at La Tour, Sylvie's home, was a very pleasant experience for us, and a great opportunity to meet new people. The second day was also full of wonderful discoveries, and the meal and visit to the Domaine de la Madone were equally satisfying. A very warm welcome.

  • A wonderful discovery of Beaujolais

Brouilly Wine Weekend". Whether at the Steeve Charvet estate in Chiroubles or the Château de la Valette estate, we met passionate winemakers who are keen to share their region, their craft and their wines. The hosts of "La Tour" are charming and attentive to their guests' needs. Spacious, comfortable room, home-cooked meals and hearty breakfast. An address to be recommended! We ended our "trip" with lunch at the restaurant "Le Côte de Brouilly", with its friendly welcome and home cooking, but without any real added value to the stay.

  • Superb weekend

Weekend offered to my grandparents who loved it! They loved the estate, the wine, the machon, as well as the meal and overnight stay at the tower! Superb estate with excellent meals!

  • Stay Saint Emilion

Pleasant stay at Château Fleur de Roques with tasting and history of the château and vineyards. Room, meals and pool all top-notch, with attentive, highly professional staff. We were delighted by the visit and tasting at Château de Ferrand, led by our friendly sommelier, which was very enriching (we discovered the blending ourselves, an unforgettable experience). We also enjoyed a free day in St Emilion, with a guided tour of the monolithic church and the Tour du Roy, finishing with a gourmet meal at Le Tertre restaurant, which we recommend.

  • Beaujolais discovery weekend

A very warm welcome in all the places we visited. We're not used to traveling in this format, it was a gift. A little embarrassed at the start by the timetable, which we absolutely had to keep to, we were very satisfied with our stay. I've always been a lover of Beaujolais, and I've discovered new facets of the region with exceptional wines from both Domaine Steeve Charvet and Château de la Valette. At Domaine Steeve Charvet, we were welcomed by the father, who is very interesting. I don't know if the charcuterie and cheese accompaniment was included, but there was a lovely platter. But even without it, we would have enjoyed the meeting and the wines. At Domaine de la Valette, we were also welcomed with a cheese platter, and the passionate owner let us taste her whole range of exceptional wines. We also received a very warm welcome at the Gite de la Tour, where people know how to entertain, and a small gift of homemade products when we left. A thoughtful gesture that made us very happy. I recommend Vinotrip for its perfect organization.

  • Discovering Beaujolais

If there's one region worth visiting, it's the Beaujolais, and at the end of October, nature is decked out in an array of dazzling colors, from the stones that make the quality of the wine to the beauty of the buildings. And what can we say about the welcome, as in Chiroubles, where after an introduction from Steeve Charvet, you can't help but love this land, but also its gastronomy, because under the name of Beaujolais, you can discover a multitude of wines. Chardonnay for whites, Gamay for reds, the benchmark, which comes in a multitude of labels, Brouilly, Chiroubles, Morgon and châteaux like La Valette, it's paradise before its time, especially since they're the perfect accompaniment to meat, fish and so many other culinary specialties. And let's not forget the rosé, a delightful discovery, even effervescent in some productions, making it a delicious aperitif, and it's not the ladies who will say otherwise. And let's not forget the warm welcome you'll receive at the Gîte de La Tour in Chiroubles, where everything is done to make you love 'their country', not forgetting the owner's table d'hôte, which is well worth the detour. From the Madone des vignes to the Terrasses de Chiroubles, not forgetting Beaujeu, the ancient capital of Beaujolais, this is a land to explore with a group of friends or as a couple, because no one is excluded from gastronomy, and there's so much to discover that one week is barely enough thanks to Vinotrip's good addresses.

  • Very nice surprise

Great weekend, the service providers (La Tour de Chiroubles, Domaine Steeve Charvet, Domaine du Chateau de la Valette, restaurant le Cote de Brouilly) were carefully chosen. Great encounters and quality products. We also recommend the Vinotrip website!

  • Thank you!

Excellent stay in this beautiful region! Visit to the Terra Safran saffron factory, super individualized welcome, visit and tasting. Thank you for your welcome, it was very interesting. Overnight stay in a tree house: excellent welcome aperitif dinner and breakfast delivered quality. Restful and a real change of scenery. However, the stairs and suspension bridge may make it difficult for some people to access the tree house. Bike hire: thank you for your welcome and availability, Marius (please note that the bikes are not electric). Visit to Chateaux Soutard: quality service and very nice picnic basket. Visit to Château de la Tour Saint Christophe: many thanks to Zachary(ie) for his welcome and kindness. We had a great time with you. To sum up, we recommend this package. The services are really of high quality. We would like to thank everyone involved in the organization, visits and welcoming of this stay.

  • Great gift weekend

This gift weekend was magnificent. Excellent wine tasting at Henri Bourgeois, a visit to the Chèvrerie and a very instructive Chavignol tasting at La Tour. Dinner at the restaurant La Gaieté Léréenne was extraordinary, and the accommodation in a gite in the 1930s was breathtaking. The whole experience was rounded off by a visit to Eric Louis's cellar on Sunday, with impeccably explained explanations of wine ageing. A wonderful weekend that I recommend to everyone.

  • PERFECT STAY

Excellent site, very serious and trustworthy. The service providers are very well chosen. I highly recommend it. A special thank you to the owners of the chambre d'hôtes de la Tour, for their thoughtfulness when leaving.

  • Good formula with some nice surprises

Stay as described. Good timing & choice of locations. Highly commendable for the Prieuré gîte. - Visit to the Eric Louis winery: very nice presentation with lots of details and full tasting. - Chèvrerie de la Tour: nice & informative. - Bistrot de la Côte des Monts Damnés: Good and to the point. A bit sad on Sunday evening as we were alone. - Overnight at the magnificent Prieuré Saint-Agnan: we slept superbly. Very good breakfast and welcome. On the banks of the Loire, ideal for a jog or walk. - Cave d'Henri Bourgeois: without a visit to the cellar, we were treated to a royal tasting! We extended our stay with a second night at Le Prieuré, a visit to the Maison des Sancerre (fun, informative and the store is full of treasures) and two other winemakers (Alphonse Mellot in Sancerre & Pierre Prieur in Verdigny) with two extra-ordinary tastings! A magnificent region full of riches to discover.

  • An unforgettable Champagne weekend!

Superb Champagne weekend! TB welcomed us to Desruets in Hautvillers, where we were given a very detailed tour of this Champagne craftsman's facility and, above all, the comments given by the lady of the house. Tasting his champagne afterwards turned out to be a wonderful discovery, especially the champagne with no added sugar. Excellent! Then on to Ay, at Clos St Georges. A superb guest house, a magnificent setting, impeccable rooms, excellent, made-to-measure tradi cuisine using fresh produce, and a hearty breakfast the next morning. Nothing to complain about, really. Nothing but compliments. An excellent address, with the added bonus of the friendliness and warm welcome of the owners, who are also the chef. Don't miss: the great walking tour through the streets of the village and around the Deutz, Bollinger and Ayala vineyards... landscapes, vineyards as far as the eye can see, serenity and fresh air. A total change of scenery guaranteed... Sunday morning at De Castellane in Eperney. Quite a facility! Large museum-like rooms, lots of old tools + paintings on the walls explaining the work of the winegrowers. And then the tower... 237 spiral steps... Hot! But once at the top, a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. We then descend to the wine-processing rooms (the stainless steel and wooden barrel room), followed by a visit to the cellars (10 - 12 degrees ambient temperature). 6 km of cellars that connect with those of Mercier. It was they who dug the chalk and then gave up part of their cellars. De Castellane belongs to Laurent Perrier. In the cellars, 5 million bottles... A charming guide accompanies you all the way: everything is explained in great detail, plus a demonstration of what goes on in the cellars. Some parts of the cellars have been converted into a museum, with old tools, wax figures and more. Great stuff! The tour ends with a visit to the room where corks, labels and boxes are applied. The tour lasts 50 minutes, but it's so interesting that you don't even notice it's gone. You learn so much. The tour ends with a return to the reception area, followed by a glass of champagne. It's truly an exceptional trip.

  • WEEKEND IN CHAMPAGNE

We were very well received at DESRUETS and they guided us very well to discover this wonderful village of HAUTVILLIERS. A very cordial and professional welcome at DE TELMONT. Then at MERCIER, we're moving upmarket in terms of company size. We personally extended VINOTRIP's program with a visit to MOET and CHANDON, imperial in terms of quality and service. and finished with a visit to DE CASTELLANE's champagne museum, having climbed the 254 steps of the tower! The accommodation at JEAN MOET's was perfect, and the evening meal at the 'grains d'argent' was well prepared. On Sunday lunchtime, we had difficulty finding the restaurant.

  • excellent stay

service as described, well organized sequence of visits and tastings.excellent welcome at each of the service providers, with a special mention for the prieuré de Saint Agnan, where great care was taken to ensure the comfort and well-being of its guests.special mention also for the restaurant la Tour in Sancerre, where on Sunday lunchtime we were offered the discovery menu instead of the menu maraicher (20 euros more per person), with no difference to pay for.Exceptional cuisine, inventive, creative, daring, with attentive staff.Le Chat restaurant is also surprising, with a very warm welcome and refined cuisine.Thank you to all these service providers for a wonderful stay in a magnificent region.

  • Very pleasant stay and warm welcome

From the very first phone call, I was very pleasantly advised. Our stay took place at the end of October, and we were lucky enough to be able to discover the area on our own. We started at Château Desmirail, where we visited the winery and received a great explanation of all the stages involved in vinification and maturation, then had the pleasure of tasting the estate's wines. We then ate in Margaux, where the meal was very good and the welcome just as good. We then headed for Château de la Tour de Bessan, where we discovered a modern estate. The person who gave us the tour then taught us how to taste a wine and, above all, we were made aware of blending, a wonderful discovery. In the evening, we dined and slept at Clos du Prince, a wonderful place with a warm welcome. Finally, the next day, we discovered the Château de Camarsac, where we were again warmly welcomed. The person in charge showed us around the vineyard and the work in the vines, and then we had a historical tour of the château with all its twists and turns. These 2 days were marvelous, rich in discoveries, the meals were all excellent, and above all we were received like "princes" everywhere. However, as we didn't have a GPS, it was difficult to find Château la Tour de Bessan and Clos du Prince. Either a better road sign, or an indication in the travel documents would be a plus. Thank you for the wonderful stay you planned for us.

  • A wonderful discovery of Touraine

We are satisfied with the stay with the following comments: - Restaurant l'Embarcadère on Friday lunchtime: Correct catering (quality of dishes) - Very good for the visit to the Château de Gaudrelle cellar on Saturday afternoon. Excellent visit, quality comments, visit to be recommended. - Very good also at Chateau de Chissay for dinner and overnight stay Friday to Saturday. - The visit to Père Auguste was different from the visit to the Château de Gaudrelle cellar. Cellar visit and varied tasting. This visit was very different from the previous one, and gave us the opportunity to taste red wine that Château de Gaudrelle didn't have. Great availability for tasting, we tested and retested and took bottles. - Excellent lunch at the Auberge du Bon Laboureur on Saturday. A very pleasant weekend!
