History of Domaine Vacheron
Based in Sancerre since the early 20th century, Domaine Vacheron is a family-owned estate now recognised as one of the leading names in the appellation. Its wines are vinified in historic cellars dating from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
For several generations, the Vacheron family has focused on revealing the diversity of Sancerre’s terroirs, with particular attention paid to flint and limestone soils. The estate has also played a pioneering role in organic and biodynamic winegrowing in Sancerre, receiving Biodyvin certification in 2004. This approach reflects a constant pursuit of precision and single-plot expression.

The wines of Domaine Vacheron
The estate produces white, red and rosé Sancerre wines across around 48 hectares, using the two emblematic grape varieties of the appellation: Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The whites stand out for their purity, tension and mineral expression, while the reds and rosés reveal the finesse of Pinot Noir on Sancerre’s terroirs.
Some single-vineyard cuvées offer a more precise insight into the identity of the soils. Les Romains, from a flint terroir, delivers a particularly intense and finely chiselled expression of Sauvignon Blanc. Belle Dame, made from Pinot Noir, illustrates the potential of Sancerre’s finest red wines. -

Domaine Vacheron offers tastings and wine sales at the estate by appointment. This visit is an opportunity to discover the family history of the domaine, its commitment to biodynamics and the diversity of its cuvées, through a guided tasting of white, red or rosé wines from the terroirs of Sancerre.
