About Domaine Philippe Martin
Maison 1892 is a characterful Champagne house built at the very end of the 19th century, proudly displaying the intertwined initials “MR” — Martin-Robert — on its façade. It was built when the family’s former home, located across the street in the centre of Cumières, had become too small. By then, the Martin family had already been making champagne for more than a century. In the estate garden, a four-tonne wine press built in Cumières in 1927 still stands as a reminder of this long winemaking history.
Until 1970, the vineyard covered no more than 4.5 hectares. The later purchase of additional vines allowed the estate to grow to 10 hectares and expand its champagne production, from 12,000 bottles to around 80,000 bottles today.
Today, Adeline Martin leads this century-old family estate, following in the footsteps of her father, Philippe Martin.

Tour, museum, tasting and 2CV vineyard ride
Adeline welcomes visitors to the museum located beneath the family home, where she shares the story of her ancestors and the estate’s Champagne heritage. The collection includes wicker baskets, weighing scales, bottle straw covers used for transport, barrels, tasting pipettes, disgorging equipment, gilding tools, corking machines and riddling racks.
Many of these tools are over a century old and were still in use until the late 1970s. Together, they offer a fascinating insight into the daily work of Champagne winegrowers and vineyard workers.
As champagne is all about celebration, the Martin family also invites guests to discover the beauty of their vineyards in a classic Citroën 2CV. This joyful and memorable ride through the slopes offers wonderful views over the Marne Valley and ends with a tasting of the estate’s finest cuvées. -
