History of Domaine Clos Saint-Louis
Located in Fixin, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Clos Saint-Louis is a family-owned Burgundy estate run by the Bernard family for several generations. In 1918, the family acquired a walled vineyard then known as “Clos Bizoutte”, renamed “Clos Saint-Louis” in 1950.
The estate includes a winegrower’s house dating back to 1634 and a hunting lodge built in 1703, reflecting the long winegrowing history of the village.
Today, the domaine farms around 16 hectares of vines in the Côte de Nuits, mainly planted with Pinot Noir, along with some Chardonnay and Aligoté. Its vineyards are located around Fixin, Brochon, Couchey, Gevrey-Chambertin and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.

Vineyard and cellar work
The estate follows respectful winegrowing practices, with careful soil cultivation, controlled yields and Terra Vitis certification. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification. The wines are then aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels.

Tour and tasting at the estate
A trained oenologist, Philippe Bernard produces wines that express the character of their terroir. He welcomes wine lovers visiting Burgundy for a tour of the estate and a tasting in the domaine’s old vaulted cellar.
The visit offers an introduction to the vineyard, the local terroirs, the vat room and the ageing cellar, before ending with a guided tasting of several cuvées.
