The wines of Domaine François Buffet
Domaine François Buffet covers 9 hectares in Volnay, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Its vines, planted at altitudes of between 230 and 330 metres, grow on marl-limestone soils that are particularly well suited to Pinot Noir, Burgundy’s emblematic grape variety.
To reveal the identity of each plot, the estate favours a vineyard approach that respects soil life: no herbicides or anti-rot treatments, soil cultivation, the use of compost, and practices inspired by biodynamics on certain plots.
The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted. After vinification, the wines are aged in oak barrels in the estate’s 18th-century cellars. Some cuvées, such as Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Chênes, are aged for around 18 months to gain finesse and ageing potential.

History of Domaine François Buffet
Located in Volnay, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Domaine François Buffet is part of a long family history. The Buffet family’s presence in Volnay dates back to 1692, although the estate’s winemaking story truly began in the 19th century.
Now run by Marc-Olivier Buffet, the estate continues this family savoir-faire while constantly refining its practices. Combining respect for Burgundian traditions, precise soil work and close attention to the expression of each climat, Domaine François Buffet produces wines that faithfully reflect the great terroirs of Volnay and Pommard.
