The wines of Domaine du Comte Sénard

Located in the heart of Aloxe-Corton, Domaine du Comte Sénard covers around 9 hectares of vines and offers a wide selection of Burgundy appellations. The wines are aged in the estate’s historic cellars, originally built by Benedictine monks.

Since 1988, the domaine has used cold maceration and careful temperature control during fermentation, helping its Corton and Aloxe-Corton wines develop the structure and ageing potential for which the appellation is known. The red wines are powerful and tannic in their youth, gaining remarkable finesse with age, while the whites, made from Chardonnay, show beautiful minerality.

The estate is particularly renowned for its Corton wines, including outstanding Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru and Corton “Clos des Meix” Grand Cru Monopole.

Travellers' review - Comte Sénard Estate

  • Great weekend!

Excellent weekend with friends. Everything was perfect and well organized. What's more, we were made to feel very welcome everywhere. The gîte "La maison rouge" was very pleasant, the wine workshop was very interesting. Lunch at Comte Senard was delicious, and the sommelier who accompanied us was very friendly and competent. Finally, the "truffle" experience was original and interesting.

  • Great stay

Great stay. A warm welcome from everyone! 5 * From the guest house (La Maison Rouge), the food and wine tasting (Comté Senard), the gastronomy at the Olivier Leflaive restaurant and the Maison aux Mille Truffes - The only downside was the marbled ham, served at several meals over three days.

  • Wine Tour from March 10 to 12, 2017

We received an excellent welcome at the Comte Senard and Prosper Maufoux wineries, Château Corton, and at Château Chailly (golf and dining). Special mention goes to the Hostellerie Levernois!!!!!!

  • Golf and Grands Crus

Very pleasant, well-organized stay. A very special mention for the restaurant and staff at "Le Chef Coq" in La Gentilhommière.

  • Fork and corkscrew in Burgundy

Excellent stay, very well organized We spent 2 nights in a bed and breakfast at Les Demoiselles de Ladoix in Ladoix Serrigny, where we were made very welcome (recommend without hesitation!) Very good service, hearty breakfast, impeccable cleanliness, very accessible single-storey room, adjoining private parking lot. Restaurant La Gremelle in Ladoix to recommend Domaine Manuel Olivier, very warm welcome, very interesting wine tasting and commentary Comte Sénard's table d'hôtes, a real treat: food, wine, welcome, plus a visit to the 13th-century cellar. The Castel Très Girard restaurant in Morey St Denis, where we had a gourmet meal, is a must! The icing on the cake: the truffle dinner at Château d'entre deux monts in Nuits St Georges (we still have the taste of truffles in our mouths). We were very well looked after by a team of young people (visit to a truffle field and cavage work by an adorable little dog). The only downside: although it's true that this was an oenological trip, there wasn't enough free time to visit Beaune and the hospices, so we made a brief stopover at Château Pierre André, especially as we'd just finished eating! Having said that, we were delighted with our stay and would recommend you without hesitation!

  • Great weekend

We were very satisfied with our stay. La closerie de Gilly is a superb place, with very present and very friendly hosts, with great oenological knowledge. The Saturday lunch stop at Comte Senard was very good, with very friendly waiters, but the menu was a little light.

  • About Domaine du Comte Sénard

The estate’s story began in 1857, when Jules Sénard, ancestor of Count Philippe Sénard, created the original Corton Clos des Meix vineyard. Located in Aloxe-Corton, between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, the domaine has remained family-owned ever since.
Since 2000, Lorraine Sénard, daughter of Philippe Sénard and great-granddaughter of Jules Sénard, has been at the helm of the estate. Inspired by previous generations, she continues to preserve the distinctive spirit of Corton wines: deep colour, red fruit aromas, structure and power.
