About Château du Tertre
Château du Tertre is a historic Margaux estate whose 52-hectare vineyard has remained unchanged since 1855. Set on one of the highest gravel ridges in the Médoc, it enjoys an exceptional position at the top of the Margaux appellation.
The estate gained international recognition in the 19th century, when it was ranked a Fifth Growth in the famous 1855 Bordeaux Classification. In 1997, Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma acquired the property and carried out major investments to restore its character and prestige.
Château du Tertre welcomes guests in an elegant and peaceful setting overlooking the vineyards. Its five guest rooms are comfortable and refined, each with a private bathroom and Wi-Fi access.

The wines
Château du Tertre combines traditional know-how with precise winemaking. Grapes are handled gently, with gravity-fed vats and small concrete tanks allowing the best vineyard plots to be vinified separately. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year.
The vineyard is planted with the classic Médoc grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and depth, while Merlot adds roundness and a silky texture. Cabernet Franc contributes delicate spicy notes, and Petit Verdot enhances the wine’s aromatic complexity. -
