About Château de Ferrand

Château de Ferrand is part of the long winemaking tradition of Bordeaux, with a history dating back to the 17th century. One of its distinctive features is that, since the château was built in 1702, it has belonged to only two families.

In 1978, the estate was acquired by Baron Bich, the visionary industrialist and founder of the BIC company. Since 2005, his daughter Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët have been at the head of this historic family property.

Set on a 42-hectare estate, Château de Ferrand stands out for its elegant architecture, charming atmosphere and beautiful views over the Dordogne Valley.

Today, Château de Ferrand brings together wine, architecture, gastronomy and contemporary art. Hospitality is at the heart of the experience, whether through stays, tours, workshops or events. After several years of renovation, completed in 2019, Ferrand has become much more than a place to visit — it is a place to experience.

Travellers' review - Château de Ferrand

  • A beautiful region

At the end of this trip, Domaine Joseph Lafarge won our hearts and became our favorite thanks to their warm welcome, their professionalism, winemaker Mr. Lafarge’s boundless passion for his vineyards, and the uniqueness of the accommodations. The tastings at the Virée winery and Domaine Ferrand were also very enjoyable thanks to the expertise of the ladies who welcomed us. Lunch at the Relais des Grottes was excellent, featuring delicious regional specialties. On the other hand, the meal at Bistrot St Pierre was very, very disappointing: chicken skewers or burgers—we had expected more local dishes. Fortunately, there was a beautiful view of the Mâconnais region, and the waitress was very kind. The visit to Cluny was a wonderful discovery.

  • A Stay in Saint-Émilion

Arrival at Château de la Grande Clotte, a warm welcome from Julie and Mathieu, a relaxing setting, and plenty of space to host family events. Very comfortable room and a high-quality breakfast, featuring beautiful tableware and homemade products, not to mention the wine tasting. Second visit to Château de Ferrand, owned by the Bich family, including a tour of the cellar and a tasting featuring a blend of different grape varieties. A very light charcuterie platter. Wine prices were inconsistent compared to those at retail stores. Christophe

We absolutely loved our trip to the Saint-Émilion area in late May 2026. The hospitality at Château de la Rose Perrière was perfect and truly enriching, as was the blending workshop at Château Ferrand. The selection of accommodations, activities, and restaurants was spot-on! We highly recommend this trip.

  • We œnologie château La Clotte

Very pleasant weekend. Château la Grande Clotte, a pleasant, magnificent and restful setting. 1st evening at the restaurant de la gare in St Emilion: very good 2nd day city tour and evening meal at the gastronomic Château du Grand Barail: a fabulous experience. An idyllic setting, extremely friendly staff and a succulent meal. It was absolutely perfect! Last day with a visit to Château Ferrand. Elliot showed us around, then explained the different grape varieties, ending with a blending and tasting session. The only downside was that the board was a little light...

  • wine tourism stay

We just spent a very nice weekend at Mathieu and Julie's where the hosts were very welcoming and kind. We had a superb breakfast where everything was homemade and excellent. A visit to Chateau FERRAND was very pleasant, but the cheese and charcuterie board was a little light. I recommend the Auberge Saint Jean where we ate very well. I highly recommend this stay. • 3-day stay at Château de la Rose Perrière

We had a great stay. Our 2 nights at Château de la Rose Perrière were perfect. The welcome and the tour of this château are really very good. The room was superb and very spacious. We spent a morning at Château Ferrand with a guided tour and assembly workshop. Simply perfect !!!!! A perfect lunch at L'ENVERS DU DECOR in SAINT-EMILION and an exceptional dinner at L'AUBERGE SAINT-JEAN, very well received and advised on the choice of wines for our menu by Manuela the owner. The people we met were extremely professional. Very pleasant stay. I'd recommend it

  • Wine tourism Stay

Great weekend with Mathieu and Julie at Château de la Grande Clotte. Very welcoming hosts, available, beautiful and very peaceful setting. Very pleasant visit to Château de Ferrand, very nice assembly workshop, but the gourmet board was too light.

  • A remarkable stay

We stayed at Château de la Rose Perrière in the Saint Emilion region in autumn. Excellent welcome, availability of the staff, quality of the explanations and details on the manufacture of cooperage. A very pleasant room with a huge bathroom and, last but not least, areas of greenery and well-kept trees, giving the whole place a lot of character. The meals, whether at the bistro at the Puissegrain station or at l'envers du décor in ST Emilion, were simply perfect, both in terms of the friendliness of the staff and the variety and quality of the dishes on offer. Finally, a visit to Château Ferrand and the blending workshop, followed by a tasting of the estate's wines, rounded off our stay in style. For each establishment we visited, our arrival was planned in advance, so well done to the VINOTRIP staff for their efficiency. We highly recommend this trip.

  • A wonderful discovery!

We had a wonderful stay in the Saint Emilion region, staying at the Château de la Rose Perrière, where we learned a lot about the cooper's craft and admired the beautifully tended garden, before the discovery tour and assembly workshop at Château Ferrand. A warm and competent welcome everywhere, a stay to be recommended!

  • Very pleasant stay

We stayed 2 nights at Château FLEUR DE ROQUES and received an excellent welcome from all the staff and especially from the owner, who took great care of us! Very nice, spacious and clean room, very good bedding. We ate the 2 evenings at the castle, the menu was super good that quality products and the price very reasonable. The breakfast was correct. We really enjoyed the visit to the underground cellar and the wine tasting! On Monday, we visited Château DE FERRAND, where we were given a very warm welcome and were given an excellent tour and explanations. We also took part in a wine-making workshop, which was great fun and very interesting.

  • Very pleasant and instructive stay

The stay was everything we'd hoped for: top-quality accommodation at Château Fleur de Roques, a morning of wine tasting and blending at Château de Ferrand led by a very welcoming and knowledgeable young winemaker, and a gourmet dinner at the Auberge St Jean, very fine and tasty. I recommend this type of stay. What's more, Saint Emilion is an exceptional village in terms of its heritage, and we particularly enjoyed visiting it!

  • Very pleasant stay and beautiful discoveries

We stayed at Château La Grande Clotte. We very much appreciated Julie and Mathieu's attentive welcome, the comfort of the place, the breakfasts with local produce, and the very interesting discussions during the tour of the winery and vineyards. Their wines are excellent. The program was well balanced, with several activities at Château Grand Ferrand (visit, blending workshop and tastings), and free time to discover Saint-Emilion and the surrounding area. The three restaurants on offer (le bistrot de la gare in Puisseguin, l'Auberge Saint-Jean in Saint-Jean de Blagnac, l'Envers du décor in Saint-Emilion) were all great, each in a different style. We also really enjoyed visiting the monolithic church, strolling through Saint-Emilion and its surrounding vineyards, and last but not least, discovering the wines. All in all, a lot of fun. This type of stay, a first for us, makes us want to come back. Gérard and Isabelle

  • Very pleasant stay

Very pleasant stay in the charming village of Saint Émilion. Thanks to Vinotrip for the organization. The choice of restaurants was perfect (L'envers du décors and l'Auberge de Saint Jean). Both are exceptional! Despite the very warm welcome from the host at Villa Eloise and the charming location, I was a little disappointed by the visit and wine tasting at the chateau, which has been bought out and is no longer Chateau de Mole... I had hoped for Chateau Ferrand, which was the reason for my choice, but the alternative was not up to scratch. A big thumbs up to Chateau Corneille-Figeac and its team. Very nice wine design workshop and fantastic vintages. I'd recommend it, but you'll have to ask beforehand where you'll be staying.

  • Superb stay in the vineyards

We spent a very pleasant time at Château de la Rose Perrière, where we stayed for the weekend. The château staff gave us a warm welcome, the rooms were beautifully decorated, breakfast was excellent, and the setting was superb. The château's gardens are sublime and well-kept, surrounded by vineyards. We were treated to a guided tour of the vineyards and cellars, followed by an enjoyable tasting of the château's wines. We then visited Château de Ferrand, where we also enjoyed a guided tour, a fun and interesting blending workshop, and a much-appreciated tasting session. Finally, a free tour of Saint Emilion, a very pretty town. However, don't hesitate to wear good shoes, as the town is mainly cobbled, with some good ascents and descents, but it's still very pleasant to stroll through the streets, given the pretty setting. In conclusion, we'll be back with pleasure, it was a superb stay.

  • Stay Saint Emilion

Pleasant stay at Château Fleur de Roques with tasting and history of the château and vineyards. Room, meals and pool all top-notch, with attentive, highly professional staff. We were delighted by the visit and tasting at Château de Ferrand, led by our friendly sommelier, which was very enriching (we discovered the blending ourselves, an unforgettable experience). We also enjoyed a free day in St Emilion, with a guided tour of the monolithic church and the Tour du Roy, finishing with a gourmet meal at Le Tertre restaurant, which we recommend.

  • A magical stay in the Bordeaux vineyards

Very interesting and pleasant welcome and visit to the château de fleur de roques where we stayed for 2 days. The wine tasting was very pleasant. Our guide explained a lot of interesting things about their vineyard. Instructive assembly workshop at château de Ferrand and our guide was adorable and passionate. Dinner at the Auberge Saint Jean was absolutely delicious, and again a very warm welcome from the chef's wife and the sommelier. We were able to discover new flavors. A wonderful experience! The village of Saint Emilion is magnificent. A visit to the monolithic church and a wine tasting at the marchand de soif were a delightful discovery and a very warm welcome. In conclusion, a magical stay, almost a little too short. The region is splendid.

  • How we like it

We stayed at Château Fleur de Roque. The setting is magnificent and very peaceful. We were made very welcome. Air-conditioning and separate WC Likewise, the visit to Château de Ferrand was very interesting, the blending of wines and the kindness of the staff. The meal at Clos Mirande was perfect, combining wine and cheese with the gourmet menu proposed by the owner.

  • Beautiful stay

We were very well received at Château de la Rose Perrière. Magnificent setting. Personalized tour of the vineyards and cellars, with a much-appreciated tasting session. Very pleasant dinner at the Bistrot de la Gare. Visit, tasting/assembly at Château de Ferrand with Anna, a highly professional, delightful person. Soothing surroundings. We highly recommend these 2 châteaux.

  • Excellent weekend

We stayed at Château la Rose Perriere. The setting is magnificent, very calm. We were made very welcome. The visit to the château de Ferrand was also very interesting and we really enjoyed it. The meal at the Auberge Saint Jean was just perfect.

  • Castle life

Following a birthday party, we were offered a "night at the château" stay. What a delight! A warm, relaxed welcome, a tour of the cellars and a tasting of Château Ferrand's St Emilion wines. Wonderful dinner at the château. What's more, we were able to choose a vintage from the château's private cellar, and tasted a 1976 vintage. To die for. Divine accommodation and breakfast. An unforgettable moment.

  • Great Stay

The stay in St Emilion was perfect, Anne's welcome at Château de Mole and the quality of the services, the visit and tasting at Château de Ferrand and the dinner at Domaine de Mirande, everything was in unison! We recommend without hesitation!

  • Everything was perfect from start to finish!

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Anne, at Château de Môle, is very attentive. Château Ferrand's oenologist is as charming as she is expert, the blending workshop was very interesting, and the tasting of 2 vintages allowed us to appreciate 2 great vintages. The gourmet restaurant was top-notch in every way. Thank you Vinotrip for your flawless organization, we congratulate you !!!!

  • STAY SAINT-EMILION

A very warm welcome at Château de Mole, very nice room, excellent breakfast and interesting tour and tasting. The assembly workshop at Château de Ferrand is a must. Very warm welcome. The sommelier in charge of the workshop passed on her passion and explained the history of wine in simple terms. The workshop concluded with a tasting of quality products. Very warm welcome at the 2 selected restaurants. Our stay ended with a delicious meal at l'envers du Décor in Saint-Emilion.

  • Great stay

Anne made us very welcome at Château de Môle. Room impeccable and spacious, copious and varied breakfast. Very pleasant wine tasting with Anne. Excellent dinner with a great welcome at "l'Envers du décor" in StEmilion. Wonderful welcome at Château de Ferrand by Maria, who gave us a splendid tasting followed by a highly enjoyable blending workshop. The gastronomic meal at the Auberge St Jean was perfect: fine flavors, creativity... everything was there. All in all, a great stay that we'll be recommending to our friends and family. Thank you

  • Once upon a time

We were delighted with this stay, offered by friends and family for our wedding during the COVID. My husband and I had a wonderful time at Château de Ferrand. Everything was perfect from A to Z. We had a wonderful time and appreciated all the little touches. The staff are adorable and considerate. A magical place. Thank you and don't change a thing!

    Nadia S.

  • Very nice stay

A great welcome at the châteaux: Château de Môle thanks again to Anne for the service and the tasting of their wines, Château de Ferrand a warm welcome and a top demonstration that showed us how to assemble wine and a great tasting. I'd recommend it to my friends.

  • Perfect weekend

We had a really perfect weekend. The room at Château de Mole was perfect, as was the welcome and breakfast. The visit and workshop at château de Ferrand, led by sommelier Maria, were a real highlight of this oenological weekend. And the dinner at the Auberge Saint Jean was perfect. In short, I recommend it.

  • September 4 and 5, 2021

4 estates, 4 different visits We started with Château de Ferrand: a blending workshop and a fine tasting, with a guide who was a little full of himself! The visit to the next estate, Château Tour St Christophe, was fairly quick, with a guide who had some difficulty speaking French, but was nevertheless friendly. The 3rd visit to Château du Payre, with dinner and overnight stay, lived up to our expectations, with good wines and a warm welcome (family-run estate). Our last visit to Château du Taillan was by far the richest and most instructive: our guide loves his job and shares it fully. A small downside for Sunday lunch: Brasserie du Golf (good welcome and good food) instead of Restaurant Le Savoie in Margaux (gastronomic with a very fine menu).

  • Stay saint emilion

My parents were delighted with the experience, and received a very warm welcome at Château de Mole, as well as at the Auberge de Saint Jean and Château Ferrand. They learned a lot at the blending workshop and the dinner at the auberge was excellent. They are very happy with the vinotrip experience.

  • The wines

Château de Ferrand’s 32-hectare vineyard is managed with a strong focus on both wine quality and environmental responsibility. Each plot is cared for according to its own characteristics, including soil type, grape variety and vine age. No herbicides have been used on the estate for more than a generation.
The property has been converting to organic farming since the 2021 vintage. It has also held Terra Vitis certification since 2012, HVE Level 3 certification since 2018 and ISO 14001 certification since 2021.
Across the estate, vines, woodland, a vegetable garden and a listed park form a rich natural ecosystem. The château even produces its own honey from beehives on the property.

The listed park and its woodland of 200-year-old oak trees are also perfect for a stroll through the estate. For guests staying at the château, the experience can continue with a private gastronomic dinner, where the chef and sommelier create a food and wine pairing menu.
