A must-visit destination for wine lovers
Since 2011, Château Soutard has welcomed visitors to discover the French art of living in the heart of a Bordeaux wine estate. In 2013, the château received a national wine tourism award, recognised as a jury favourite.
Visitors can choose from several experiences suited to different levels of wine knowledge. The group tour introduces the winemaking process from vineyard to bottle, followed by a tasting of three wines.
For a more exclusive experience, the private tour offers a guided discovery of the estate, exploring the link between nature, terroir and winemaking expertise. It ends with a tasting of three Grand Cru Classé wines from the estates — Château Soutard, Château Larmande and Château Petit Faurie de Soutard — paired with mature cheeses.
At Château Soutard, history, modernity and passion come together to create a memorable wine experience.

Elegant wines from an exceptional terroir
Located on Saint-Émilion’s famous limestone plateau, Château Soutard benefits from an outstanding terroir. The vineyard covers 30 hectares in a single block and is planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging 35 years old. The estate’s wines are known for their precision, freshness and excellent ageing potential.
Château Soutard Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion is a deep red wine with peppery aromas and notes of red and black fruit. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, with silky tannins and a fresh, mineral finish. Le Petit Soutard, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, is the estate’s second wine. It is charming and approachable, with red fruit aromas, a rounded palate and a smooth, velvety structure. -
A Château rich in history
Château Soutard, a Grand Cru Classé estate, covers 30 hectares near the famous medieval village of Saint-Émilion. Wine has been produced here since the 17th century, on the historic site known as “Soutard”, which gave the estate its name.
The château’s elegant façade dates from the 18th century, while its stone wings, typical of traditional Bordeaux farm buildings, date back to the 16th century.
Today, Château Soutard is managed by Bertrand de Villaines, with winemaking overseen by Véronique Corporandy, the estate’s technical director. Combining heritage and modern expertise, Château Soutard is both a witness to Bordeaux’s wine history and a leading name in contemporary Saint-Émilion.
