About Château Suduiraut

Château Suduiraut takes its name from the marriage of Nicole d’Allard and Léonard de Suduiraut in 1580. Set in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the estate is also known for its elegant French-style gardens, designed by Le Nôtre, the celebrated landscape gardener of King Louis XIV.

In 1855, Château Suduiraut was awarded Premier Cru Classé status, placing it among the great historic estates of Bordeaux. Since 1992, the property has been owned by AXA Millésimes, whose work has helped preserve and enhance the estate’s exceptional winegrowing heritage.

Today, the team at Château Suduiraut is dedicated to producing wines of remarkable elegance and complexity, shaped by a unique terroir and centuries of savoir-faire.

Travellers' review - Château Suduiraut

  • Very pleasant stay on August 30 and 31

Very warm welcome from the speakers+++ from the Châteaux du Taillan and Suduiraut. Their knowledge and pedagogy enabled us to make a wonderful discovery of wine and viticulture, and we had a great time. The restaurants Le Savoie and Chez Titu were top-notch, as was the accommodation at Château de Seguin.

  • The wines

Château Suduiraut is one of the leading names in Sauternes. Its vineyard is mainly planted with Sémillon, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc, the traditional grape varieties of the appellation.
The estate benefits from ideal conditions for producing great sweet wines. In autumn, the nearby Ciron and Garonne rivers create morning mists that encourage the development of noble rot, essential to the making of Sauternes. The poor, well-drained gravelly soils force the vines to root deeply, bringing concentration, freshness and finesse to the wines.
Château Suduiraut wines are known for their aromatic richness, elegance and beautiful balance between opulence and freshness. Alongside its flagship wine, Château Suduiraut, the estate also produces other cuvées, including Castelnau de Suduiraut and Lions de Suduiraut.

  • Wine experiences at Château Suduiraut

A visit to Château Suduiraut offers a fascinating introduction to the world of fine Sauternes wines. The experience begins in the vineyard, where guests discover the estate’s terroir and learn how autumn mists and noble rot play a key role in creating these exceptional sweet wines.
The tour continues in the barrel cellars, offering an insight into the winemaking and ageing process that brings out the depth, complexity and balance of the wines.
The visit ends with a guided tasting, including an introduction to the distinctive aromas typically found in Sauternes.
