Château Champion, a preserved terroir

Spread over an area of 6.8 hectares with a clay-limestone soil, the estate produces a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The average age of the vines is 38 years.

This terroir is particularly suited to the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties (respectively up to 75%, 13% and 12% on the 2020 blend). The viticultural techniques are in line with family traditions: work on the soil and controlled grassing, disbudding/leaf thinning, etc.

This symbiosis of these elements offers a wine with notes of black fruits and spices. A perfect balance between elegance and generosity.

  • A day full of discoveries and delicious flavors

    We had the pleasure of visiting three wineries, each offering quite different but equally interesting experiences. We particularly enjoyed Château Champion, a family-run business where we received a truly impeccable welcome. The tour was warm, authentic, and very friendly. You can really feel their passion for the craft and their desire to share the family’s expertise. A wonderful discovery! We also really enjoyed Château Tailhas, with its warm welcome and interesting tour. Once again, we appreciated the family atmosphere and the close connection with the people who run the estate. Finally, Château Croizille offered a different approach, with a unique estate and operational style. The tour was interesting, especially for learning about another way of producing and marketing wine, but we personally preferred the charm and authenticity of the two family-run estates. Lunch was also a wonderful surprise: the restaurant “Chai Pascal,” located in the heart of Saint-Émilion, was very pleasant, and we really enjoyed our meal. A delicious meal that perfectly rounded out this wonderful day of exploring the wineries. All in all, these three complementary tours offered a chance to discover different facets of the wine world. A wonderful experience that we highly recommend to wine lovers and those who enjoy exploring new places!

  • Some truly wonderful and delightful discoveries

    Our visits to Château Champion and Château Tailhas were very enjoyable, interesting, and informative. We were warmly welcomed, and the owners and staff, driven by their passion, were very hospitable and eager to help us understand and taste their wines. On the other hand, our visit to Château Croizille was a big disappointment: the welcome was far from warm, the tour was rushed, the tasting was hurried through without any explanations, and our questions seemed to annoy our guide (Killian) and distract him from texting!.... The restaurant where we had lunch, Le Candale, was very good, with a magnificent view surrounded by vineyards.

  • Day trip Saint Emilion Pomerol

    For our day on 02/05/26, we preferred the first two châteaux, Champion and Tailhas, because we met passionate and fascinating people, in particular one of the Nebout brothers from château Tailhas, with whom we learned the most. As for the third château, we particularly appreciated the typology of the site, with its rugged terrain. For lunch, we enjoyed the meal, but less so the welcome. Otherwise a Vinotrip experience is to be recommended. Sincerely

  • A VERY SUCCESSFUL DAY (despite a half-hearted final visit)

    We had a wonderful day, very well organized overall. The first two châteaux, Château Champion and Château Tailhas, were real favorites: estates on a human scale, with passionate, warm and generous owners. We particularly appreciated the quality of the discussions, their availability and the very clear and enriching explanations. You get a real sense of authenticity and love for the job, which makes the visits truly unique. Lunch was another highlight of the day: an exceptional restaurant, with a delicious and perfectly executed menu of the day. The terrace setting with its magnificent view over the vineyards was simply splendid, a real moment of pleasure and relaxation. By contrast, the last visit in the afternoon was much less convincing. The experience was much more commercial and impersonal: we didn't visit the vineyards, only the cellar, followed by a tasting session, which ended in the boutique. The explanations seemed rather approximate, and the whole thing felt more like "mass tourism" than authentic discovery, in stark contrast to the morning's visits. In spite of this, we'll keep the positive aspects in mind, thanks to the first two estates and the lunch, which contributed greatly to making the day a wonderful experience.

  • Good organization

    Everything went perfectly, the service providers are used to vinotrip customers and we were very well received. Visits to château champion, camarsac and le Taillan were very interesting, with professionals who knew how to share their knowledge. Excellent restaurants at marquis de terme and château pey la tour, and a very good overnight stay at château sequin. In short, a great gift to give yourself.

  • A beautiful day in the vineyards

    Vinotrip for lovers under a beautiful sun. Chateau Champion and Chateau Tailhas: passionate owners, we really appreciated the welcome and the discussions. Delicious meal at Lard et Bouchon, stroll around Saint Emilion... we didn't enjoy Chateau Croizille so much... more touristy in the welcome and a visit with approximate information, very nice views of the rolling vineyards though. A lovely day out.

  • An unexpected interlude in the Bordeaux region

    2nd VINOTRIP stay after enjoying the 1st stay in Burgundy. A very pleasant weekend in Saint-Emilion, despite a storm at the end of the 1st day which made us fear for the night in the cabin, but everything went relatively smoothly. In the early afternoon, we paid a visit to the saffron factory (which also produces pepper and goji berries), where we made a wonderful discovery of this little corner of the countryside and its hostess. Lodging in a hut where it is necessary to give advance warning to people prone to vertigo or with mobility problems, as access to the hut is not easy. Dry toilets in the accommodation, but showers are a 10/15 minute walk away in our case, which can be a problem for some people. The dinner in the basket was a great success, even if the weather wasn't right for us to take full advantage of the terrace. A small storm lamp is given to you on arrival (it would be advisable to provide accommodation with a ceiling attachment point to illuminate the area). The staff at Château de la Romaningue are pleasant and helpful. Visits to Châteaux Soutard and Champion went well and were interesting. We preferred Château Champion for its authentic family atmosphere. The basket lunch in the courtyard of Château Soutard was great, with sunshine and friendly staff. Bike hire was a problem, as we were too busy to collect the bikes from the hire company. A pleasant stay thanks to VINOTRIP's good organization. When can we expect the 3rd trip... ?

  • Super stay golf wines .

    Stay at Château du Tertre for 2 days with cellar tour and wine tasting. Breakfasts in the château kitchen with a dedicated cook. The green fee and meal at the Médoc golf course left us with excellent memories. This golf course is one of the finest in France, with greens worthy of the finest championships. Thank you to our children for offering us this enchanted interlude!

    The passion for wine has been transmitted over the generations within the Bourrigaud family since the 18th century. Tradition is the key word and the representatives of the 8th generation, Pascal and Véronique, work to take the greatest care of their vines while respecting ancestral values.
    In 1994, Pascal succeeded his father and operated Châteaux Champion and Vieux Grand Faurie. Subsequently, the Bourrigaud name also expanded with the acquisition of a new property: Château Haute-Terrasse, located in the heart of the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.

  • Choice of organic winemaking and recognition

    Committed to organic farming since 2018, Château Champion is opening up to new perspectives and supporting its convictions for the environment by obtaining ECOCERT certification. Pascal and Véronique defend the preservation of the environment and resources. No synthetic product is used in order to respect natural balances.
    Château Champion has been distinguished in the most prestigious competitions in the wine industry: Hachette des Vins, Independent Winegrowers, Terres de Vins, Vins de Macôn, Feminalise, Vins de Lyon, Vins d'Aquitaine or the World Competition in Brussels, to name just a few!
