  • History of the Château Fonplégade

The vineyard of Château Fonplégade, located near Saint-Emilion, with an area of 18 hectares, was in operation from the 2nd century AD, during the Roman Empire. It belonged to the Duc de Morny, half-brother of Napoleon III, to a bank and it was finally purchased in 2004 by an American businessman Stephen Adams, passionate about the wines of Bordeaux.

Fonplégade is one of the oldest vineyards in Saint-Emilion, but it is now also one of the most modern farms on the right bank of Bordeaux by the use of new machines, and its conversion to organic viticulture. Wine quality resulting from the specificity of this region between tradition and modernity.
