French wine tasting trips

Take off on a French wine tasting tour

Our wine trips in France have something for everyone. Whether you want to spend half a day tasting traditional French wines or learn which dishes pair best with an organic wine from southwestern France, we’ve got you covered. And if you’re more of an adventurer or nature lover, why not go on a 3-day weekend to explore the vineyards in a striking, offbeat setting? We’ve got that, too. Just take your pick!

Stay in the vineyards: a unique experience

To make the most of your wine-tasting trip, you can choose to stay near a chateau or right in the heart of the vineyards. We offer accommodation in fully-equipped, one-of-a-kind treehouses surrounded by nature, 5-star luxury hotels and spas – some in renovated historic sites, stunning suites in prestigious chateaux, rooms in a family wine estate and other options in between. Let us know what sounds good to you and we’ll help you find the perfect fit.

Discover France’s greatest winegrowing regions

VINOTRIP boasts wine-tasting trips in 14 winegrowing regions in France and Catalonia, with each region offering something special. Travel to wine regions in the north-east, such as Alsace or Champagne, where the Romans once dug caves to mine salt and chalk. You’ll be able to visit those caves, which are now used by local winemakers to store Champagne!

Otherwise, spend time in typical places in the south, anywhere from the Languedoc-Roussillon region to Provence, where the fields of lavender mingle with the vineyards, or head to central France with its hilly landscapes in Burgundy, Savoy or Beaujolais to sample a glass of wine with a speciality like a meaty mâchon. You can also opt for sampling cheese and wine together with a stopover in the Jura to try some Comté and learn about the region’s distinctive vin jaune (yellow wine) and vin de paille (straw wine).

If you have your sights set on the Atlantic coast, to surf or golf, why not spend a day or two in Bordeaux and its surrounding vineyards then navigate between land and sea in the South-West. That option will take you through the Basque Country vineyards and farther inland to medieval castles in Cahors and Armagnac. However, if the Mediterranean is what you are after, you might want to choose our Caduqués wine tour in Catalonia, which includes accommodation in a natural park.

Both the Loire and Rhone valleys offer yet another possibility – you can meander down the river and visit historic wineries and vineyards whose wines are largely influenced by the nearby rivers. Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to savour unique truffle dishes wherever you go! Even if Paris is your only stop, believe it or not, there are vines within the city limits: in a park offering a panoramic view, or on a plot in Montmartre with around 2,000 vine plants, including some 30 different grape varieties, grown using organic farming methods.

A tailor-made getaway based on what you love

Whether you and your friends or family are wine novices or connoisseurs, choose the theme that appeals to you most (wellness, gastronomy, culture, sport, winegrowing methods, something romantic or offbeat) and the accommodation you’d like to experience… then let VINOTRIP take it from there. You can sit back and relax in a chateau spa, work alongside winemakers to create your own cuvée, or tickle your taste buds with a food and wine pairing workshop.
